Whole or universal
Emmiline is a variant of Emmeline, which stems from the Germanic element 'amal' meaning work or industrious, and 'ermen' meaning whole or universal. It was introduced to England by the Normans and has maintained a sense of delicate strength through the centuries. While rare today, it shares the same roots as the popular Emma and Emily.
Fewer than 5 girls were named Emmiline in 2025.
