Elodi is a rare variation of the French name Elodie, which stems from the Germanic name Alodia. It is traditionally interpreted as meaning 'foreign riches' from the elements 'al' (other/foreign) and 'od' (wealth). Some also associate it with the Greek word for a marsh flower.
