Devonne is a modern variant likely derived from the French word 'divin' meaning divine, or as a variation of the English county name Devon. It gained some usage in the mid-20th century as a rhythmic, gender-neutral choice. It is often associated with the Celtic tribe known as the Dumnonii, meaning deep valley dwellers.
