A feminine form of Devon, it likely derives from the Celtic tribe known as the Dumnonii, meaning 'deep valley dwellers'. It is also associated with the Latin word 'divinus', meaning divine or god-like. The name saw modest use in the mid-20th century but remains a rare choice today.
