Follower of Demeter
A variant of Demetrius, which is derived from the Greek name Demetrios. It signifies a person who is a follower of Demeter, the Greek goddess of agriculture, harvest, and fertility. While less common than the standard spelling, it gained some usage in the United States during the late 20th century.
