Laurel or bay tree
Derived from the Greek name Daphne, it refers to the laurel tree. In Greek mythology, the nymph Daphne was transformed into a laurel tree to escape Apollo, making the name a symbol of victory and chastity. It is a very popular choice in Turkey and among the Turkish diaspora.
