Declyn is a modern American spelling variation of the traditional Irish name Declan. It is derived from the Gaelic name Deaglán, famously borne by a 5th-century saint who founded a monastery in Ardmore. While the original is masculine, this 'y' spelling is often used for both boys and girls.
