From Mount Cynthus
Originally a diminutive of Cynthia, it refers to a person from Mount Cynthus on the island of Delos. In Greek mythology, this was the birthplace of the moon goddess Artemis. While it peaked in popularity in the mid-20th century, it remains a recognizable classic.
