Marshland or broken land; water and small lake
A modern spelling variation of Brooklyn, which originally referred to the New York City borough. The name is derived from the Dutch town of Breukelen, meaning 'broken land' or 'marshland', and was later influenced by the English words 'brook' and 'lyn'.
