In Greek mythology, Briseida (Briseis) was a Trojan widow abducted by Achilles during the Trojan War. Her capture and the subsequent dispute over her between Achilles and Agamemnon is a central plot point in Homer's Iliad. The name has seen modern usage primarily in Spanish-speaking cultures.
