A divine gift or favor
Derived directly from the English word, it refers to a prayer for God's favor or a beneficial thing for which one is grateful. It has roots in the Old English 'bletsian', originally meaning to consecrate with blood in religious rites, though its modern usage is purely associated with grace and gratitude. It is particularly popular in West African cultures as a virtue name.
