Dry; related to the azalea flower
Azalee is a rare variant of Azalea, derived from the Greek word 'azaleos' meaning dry. The name was originally applied to the flower because it was thought to flourish in dry soil. It has a vintage, Southern charm and is often used as a more phonetic or French-influenced alternative to the botanical name.
About 14 girls were named Azalee in 2025.
