Grace or favor
Annai is a rare variant of Anna or Hannah, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Channah. While it is occasionally used in Spanish-speaking communities as a diminutive or stylized variant, it also appears in Tamil as a word for mother, though its use as a given name in the US most often follows the Western etymological path of 'grace'.
