Noble or excellence
In Arabic, Ala (often transliterated as Alaa) signifies excellence, sublimity, or nobility. It is also found in Polish and Slavic cultures as a diminutive of Alicja (Alice), which shares the Germanic root meaning noble. In some contexts, it is associated with the Latin word for wing.
