Aeryn is a modern phonetic spelling of Erin, derived from the Gaelic 'Éirinn', meaning Ireland. It is also sometimes associated with the Hebrew name Aaron, meaning mountain of strength. The name gained visibility through science fiction culture in the late 1990s.
