Guest, stranger, or shining
Zina has multiple etymological roots. In Greek, it is often considered a diminutive of Xenia, meaning 'guest' or 'stranger'. In Russian and Slavic traditions, it is frequently a short form of Zinaida, which derives from the Greek name Zenais, meaning 'of Zeus'. It also has roots in Arabic, where it can mean 'beauty' or 'ornament'.
