Ysabel is a medieval Spanish variant of Isabel, which itself is a derivative of the Hebrew name Elisheba. It shares the same etymological roots as Elizabeth, signifying a sacred oath or devotion. While the 'I' spelling became the standard, the 'Y' spelling retains a distinct vintage and aristocratic flair.
