Mountain; Alex backwards
Xela is a multi-faceted name with two primary origins. In a Guatemalan context, it is a shortened form of Quetzaltenango, derived from the K'iche' Maya name Xelajú, meaning 'under ten mountains.' In English-speaking contexts, it is often used as a creative, modern reversal of the name Alex.
