Vonda is often considered a variant of Wanda, which is of Slavic origin meaning 'the tribe of the Vandals' or 'shepherdess'. In some contexts, it is associated with the Latin word for a slender stem or rod. It gained modest popularity in the mid-20th century but remains a rare choice today.
