Tristina is a feminine elaboration of Tristan. It is derived from the Celtic name Drust, meaning 'riot' or 'tumult,' but was heavily influenced by the Latin word 'tristis,' meaning 'sad,' due to the tragic medieval legend of Tristan and Isolde.
