Upholder of teachings
A Tibetan name traditionally given to boys and girls, it is most famously associated with the Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay. It is derived from the Tibetan words meaning 'upholder' or 'adherent' of the Buddhist Dharma. It is often used as a middle name or part of a compound name in Tibetan culture.
