Unknown; possibly related to a Roman family name.
Tatjana is a Slavic and Germanic variation of Tatiana. It is derived from the Roman clan name Tatius, which is of obscure origin but was famously borne by Titus Tatius, a king of the Sabines. The name became widely popular in Eastern Europe due to the veneration of Saint Tatiana, a 3rd-century martyr.
