Tamra is a variant of the Hebrew name Tamara. It refers to the date palm tree, which in ancient cultures symbolized peace, fertility, and abundance. While it peaked in popularity in the United States during the 1960s and 70s, it remains a distinctive alternative to the more common Tamara.
