The first twin to taste the world
In Yoruba culture, Taiwo is the traditional name given to the first-born of a set of twins. It is a contraction of the phrase 'To-aiye-wo', which translates to 'having the first taste of the world'. According to tradition, Taiwo is sent out by the second twin, Kehinde, to determine if the world is ready for them.
Less common today
Taiwo isn't in the latest US Top 1000. It last peaked at #5,438 in 1992.
