In Sanskrit, Swati refers to the star Arcturus, the brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is also the name of one of the nakshatras (lunar mansions) in Hindu astrology, symbolizing independence and purity. The name is often associated with the first drop of rain that falls into an oyster to create a pearl.
