Gracious; mountain; or invented name
Shanara is a modern name with multiple possible roots. It is often considered a variant of Shani or Shana, derived from the Hebrew name Yochanan meaning 'God is gracious,' or it may be linked to the Sanskrit word for the planet Saturn or a mountain. In the United States, it gained some visibility in the late 20th century as a creative elaboration of popular 'Shan' sounds.
