A modern American coinage derived from the Irish name Ryan. It was popularized in the 1980s by Hall of Fame baseball player Ryne Sandberg, whose parents named him after relief pitcher Ryne Duren.
Less common today
Ryne isn't in the latest US Top 1000. It last peaked at #628 in 1990.
