Dawn or bright star
Roxann is a variant of Roxanne, which is the French form of the Greek name Roxane. The name ultimately derives from the Old Persian name Roshanak, meaning 'dawn' or 'little star'. It gained literary fame through the character in the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac.
