Great queen or maiden
Rhian is a Welsh name often considered a diminutive of Rhiannon, the name of a prominent horse goddess in Welsh mythology. It is derived from the Old Celtic 'Rigantona', which translates to 'great queen'. In modern Welsh usage, it is also associated with the word 'rhiain', meaning maiden.
