Scorching heat or parchedness
Derived from the Arabic root 'ramida', meaning to be burnt or scorched. It is the name of the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. The name symbolizes the heat of the sun on the sand and the spiritual purification of the fast.
