Oran is an Anglicized form of the Irish name OdhrΓ‘n. It is derived from the Gaelic word 'odhar', meaning pale or dun-colored, combined with a diminutive suffix. Historically, it was borne by several early Irish saints, most notably a companion of Saint Columba.
