Ancestors descendant or olive tree
Olli is primarily a Finnish diminutive of Olavi (the Finnish form of Olaf) meaning 'ancestor's descendant.' It is also frequently used as a short form of Oliver, which is derived from the Latin word for the olive tree. While rare as a standalone name in the US, it is a common nickname and given name in Northern Europe.
