Nysia is a name with multiple potential roots. In Greek mythology, it is associated with Mount Nysa, the legendary birthplace of Dionysus, and the Nysaean nymphs who raised him. It is also sometimes considered a shortened form of Denysia or a variant of the Arabic name Nissa.
