Nyiah is a modern American phonetic variant of the Swahili name Nia, which means 'purpose' and is one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. It may also be used as a shortened form of names like Aniyah or Janiyah, or as a variation of the Arabic name Niyah, meaning 'intention'.
