Lord of the blue; an epithet for Lord Shiva
Derived from the Sanskrit words 'nila', meaning blue, and 'isha', meaning lord or ruler. In Hindu tradition, it is one of the many names for Lord Shiva, specifically referring to his blue throat, which resulted from consuming poison to save the universe.
