Victory of the people
Nikko is a variant of Niko, which is a shortened form of the Greek name Nikolaos. It combines the elements 'nike' (victory) and 'laos' (people). While often associated with the Japanese city and its famous shrines, as a boy's name in the West, it is primarily a phonetic spelling of the European diminutive.
