Nikki originated as a diminutive of Nicole, the feminine form of Nicholas. It is derived from the Greek name Nikolaos, which combines the elements 'nike' (victory) and 'laos' (people). While once a popular standalone name in the late 20th century, it is now more commonly used as a nickname.
