Champion or cloud
Derived from the Latinized name Nigellus, it is often associated with the Gaelic name Niall. While historically linked to the word for black (niger), it is more accurately rooted in the meaning of champion. It was a common name among the Norman nobility and saw a significant revival in the 20th century.
