In Irish mythology, Niamh was a princess of the Land of Youth (Tír na nÓg) and the daughter of the sea god. She is best known for falling in love with the hero Oisín and whisking him away on her magical white horse. The name has long been a symbol of beauty and brightness in Gaelic culture.
