Pure or butterfly
Nessa has multiple etymological roots. In its Irish context, it is a traditional name associated with the mother of King Conchobar mac Nessa. In Greek, it is often considered a diminutive of Agnes, meaning 'pure' or 'chaste', while in Hebrew it is sometimes linked to the word for 'miracle'.
