Nalanii is a modern elaboration of the Hawaiian name Nalani. It is composed of the definite article 'ka' (often shortened in names) and 'lani', meaning heaven, sky, or royal. The double 'i' ending is a contemporary stylistic choice often used to add a unique visual flair.
