Mhia is a modern variant of Mia, which itself has multiple origins. It is often considered a diminutive of Maria, meaning 'bitter' or 'beloved', but in various contexts, it is associated with the Latin 'mea' meaning 'mine' or the Sanskrit 'Maya' meaning 'illusion'.
