Joyful or sea-born
Merryn is a name with dual interpretations. It is often considered a Cornish variant of the Welsh name Meriel, meaning 'sea-bright', or associated with the English word 'merry', meaning joyful. It is also the name of a 7th-century Cornish saint, St. Merryn.
