Sea-born or of the sea
Merin is a rare name with multiple potential etymological paths. It is often considered a variant of the Welsh name Meryn or the Cornish Merryn, both of which relate to the sea. It may also be viewed as a diminutive form of Marina or a variation of the Gaelic name Muireann.
