Compassion or forgiveness
A variant of the virtue name Mercy, derived from the Old French word 'merci'. It signifies a quality of leniency, compassion, and forbearance shown toward others. While the 'ie' ending gives it a more diminutive, vintage feel, it retains the strong moral foundations of the Puritan virtue names.
