Bitter or pearl; also associated with the month of May
Mayme originated as a playful diminutive of Mary or Margaret, later becoming a standalone name. It is also frequently linked to the month of May, which is named for Maia, the Roman goddess of fertility. While it was highly popular in the late 19th century, it is now considered a rare vintage gem.
