Of Mars; little Margaret
A diminutive form of the Spanish name Marisa or a variation of the name Margaret, often interpreted as 'little Margaret' or 'pearl'. It also carries the Latin roots of Marcus, meaning 'consecrated to the god Mars'. It was most popular in the United States during the 1980s.
