Of the sea or warlike
Marica is a name with dual roots. In Latin mythology, Marica was a nymph of the sacred forest near the river Liris. It is also frequently used as a Slavic diminutive of Maria, meaning 'of the sea', or related to the Roman god Mars, meaning 'warlike'.
