Admirable or worthy of admiration
Maranda is a variant of the Latin name Miranda, which was famously created by William Shakespeare for the heroine of his play The Tempest. It is derived from the Latin word 'mirandus', meaning 'to be wondered at' or 'admirable'. While the 'i' spelling remains the standard classic, the 'a' spelling peaked in popularity in the United States during the late 20th century.
