In Sanskrit, Manu is the name of the progenitor of humanity and the first king to rule the earth. In Spanish and French contexts, it is frequently used as a diminutive for Manuel or Emmanuel, meaning 'God is with us'. It also appears in various Polynesian cultures, often meaning 'bird'.
